Gifted Interview #15 | Robert

The Gifted Interview asks gifted and talented adults about their relationship with (their) giftedness in order to demystify, inspire and blossom with this difference.

Today, Robert gives us his vision of giftedness through the Gifted Interview. Thank you, Robert!

.IF I COULD CHOOSE, WOULD I STILL BE GIFTED?

I would not change who I am for anything in the world.

.WHAT (MY OWN) GIFTEDNESS MEANS TO ME

It means to be separate. It’s like being integrated in a foreign country whose language you have learned to speak and who doesn’t understand the richness of my mother tongue.

I experience pieces of evidence. An instinctive, situational, predictive and multi-potential intelligence. With this, I have done things out of the ordinary and still today, with always new challenges.

.IF I HAD TO CHOOSE AN IMAGE OR A KEYWORD THAT SUMS UP WHAT GIFTEDNESS MEANS

A room (my brain) where I make a big mess when I let myself go.

.HOW LONG HAVE I KNOWN ABOUT IT?

I accepted it two years ago and I’m going to be 60. I always knew there was something special about it.

.WHAT PHASES HAVE I GONE THROUGH SINCE MY DISCOVERY?

Deliverance. Finally, answers to questions I couldn’t ask myself, not being aware of the particularities of the gifted.

.HOW DO I EXPLAIN IT TO SOMEONE WHO HAS NEVER HEARD OF IT?

I’m rowing, it’s horrible. I’m stopping, because I’m afraid of looking superior, so I counterbalance with the worst of the worst of the giftedness, and now I look like a sick person.

.THE REMARK WHICH BLEW ME AWAY MOST WHEN I TALKED ABOUT IT

“If you want to tell us that you are brilliant, we already know it.”

.HOW IT CHANGED MY LIFE (TO KNOW IT)

I have never experienced it as well as since I accepted it. For me, understanding is essential. Accepting my giftedness has made me understand so many things. I gained 20 years of psychoanalysis that I would never do.

.WHAT I HAVE ALLOWED MYSELF TO DO EVER SINCE

 Nothing more than before.

.WHAT IT CREATES TO OTHERS WHEN I TALK ABOUT IT

I only talk about it with Gifted people. So nothing special and everything at the same time 😊

.WHAT IRRITATES ME WITH GIFTEDNESS

I’d like to put my brain in pause mode, and sleep well!

.WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO EMPHASIZE ABOUT GIFTEDNESS

It’s an extra touch of humanity, so accept (Gifted!).

.WHAT I PERSONALLY FIND TO BE THE MOST DIFFICULT

 Sleeping badly

.WHAT I PERSONALLY LOVE

I am amazed when I find crazy ideas and evidence. It’s like being given a gift. It’s like going back to my childhood and having the best gift at Christmas. Have I really left my childhood behind?

.MY WELLBEING TOOL OR PRACTICE THAT HELPS ME MOST

Sport, and the sea soothes me.

.A MISREPRESENTATION THAT I WANT TO CALL INTO QUESTION

Gifted people would be weak and prey for narcissistic perverts.

.WHAT I WANT TO SAY TO GIFTED PEOPLE

Use your little superpowers to the fullest if you have a passion that expresses them. But nothing can be done without work, without investment, without passion. And if you don’t care so much, who cares about IQ?

.WHAT I WANT TO SAY TO PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT CONCERNED

What I like about people is their sincerity, their authenticity, the rest doesn’t matter.

.WHAT I WOULD RECOMMEND TO SOMEONE WHO IS WONDERING

Take the test if you feel unable to accept it, and try to understand. If it is not important to you, it may be important to your children.

.THE MISTAKE NOT TO MAKE FOR A GIFTED PERSON

I don’t know. Each person is unique.

.MY PROFESSIONAL ADVICE FOR GIFTED

If you think the company should value you more, you’re wrong. It’s up to you to work for it, not for others to do it for you.

.MY PERSONAL ADVICE FOR GIFTED

No idea. I haven’t worked on the subject and I don’t like to give opinions (like other Gifted people).

In fact, I am a positive Gifted person, I see first what to do to succeed rather than the list of everything that could lead to failure. Why is that? Maybe this rare advice from my father: “He who doesn’t try anything is only wrong once”.

.A BOOK TO READ ON THE SUBJECT

I liked Matthieu Lassagne’s articles on instinctive intelligence, multipotentiality. That’s how I really accepted my gift.

.MY OPINION ABOUT THE IQ WAIS TEST

None. I hate tests. So I won’t be able to enter MENSA because officially I am not Gifted. In fact, am I really? 😉

.IS IT A WASTE NOT TO KNOW THAT YOU ARE GIFTED?

The important thing is to live life well.

.WHEN I MEET ANOTHER GIFTED PERSON, DO I RECOGNIZE HIM.HER? BY WHAT?

It’s easy, we speak the same language.

.WHAT DO GIFTED PEOPLE HAVE IN COMMON?

Language.

.THE LAST THING I LEARNED ON THE SUBJECT (THAT I’D LIKE TO SHARE)

Nothing for a while, I worked so hard on it when I accepted it. Just the confirmation that each person is unique. This is for everyone Gifted and not Gifted.

.A WISH FOR THE FUTURE

Continue to give them peace of mind in the business. Don’t try to mark them with a star.

.A HUNCH ON THE SUBJECT

I don’t have intuition but an intuitive intelligence that works very well on the subjects I work on intensely.

.THE QUESTION THAT I WAS MISSING BUT THAT I WOULD LIKE TO ANSWER?

Are you happy?

More than ever!
