Portrait de Fabrice Micheau, expert surdoué, illustrant son interview HPI

Gifted Interview #1 | Fabrice Micheau

The Gifted Interview asks gifted and talented adults about their relationship with (their) giftedness in order to demystify, inspire and blossom with this difference.

Today, Fabrice Micheau shares his vision of giftedness through the “Gifted interview” and thus inaugurates my new series to share about Gifted and Talented Adults. Thank you, Fabrice! A few keywords to describe Fabrice’s field of expertise: Executive Board counselling. Expert on Giftedness/VHIQ and Coach. Speaker. Crisis management. He currently lives between Bordeaux, Paris and abroad.

.IF I COULD CHOOSE, WOULD I STILL BE GIFTED?

Yes

.WHAT (MY OWN) GIFTEDNESS MEANS TO ME

Difference and discrepancies, resources and exclusions

.IF I HAD TO CHOOSE AN IMAGE OR A KEYWORD THAT SUMS UP WHAT GIFTEDNESS MEANS

A volcano imploding or exploding, a nuclear power plant

.HOW LONG HAVE I KNOWN ABOUT IT?

15 years

.WHAT PHASES HAVE I GONE THROUGH SINCE MY DISCOVERY?

Validation, assurance, explanation, appeasement, booster

.HOW DO I EXPLAIN IT TO SOMEONE WHO HAS NEVER HEARD OF IT?

According to his own: beliefs, experiences, and fears. In a very precise way on the distinctive elements that concern him.

.THE REMARK WHICH BLEW ME AWAY MOST WHEN I TALKED ABOUT IT

“I missed my ‘Tarte tatin’ pie. Usually, I make it better with another kind of apple”.

.HOW IT CHANGED MY LIFE (TO KNOW IT)

I spread my wings and multiplied my abilities by 100.

.WHAT I HAVE ALLOWED MYSELF TO DO EVER SINCE

Confront, respond to annoying people in a controlled way, and trust my feelings and myself, accept helplessness and incommunicability.

.WHAT IT CREATES TO OTHERS WHEN I TALK ABOUT IT

Curiosity and sometimes nothing

.WHAT IRRITATES ME WITH GIFTEDNESS

Others who behave badly, gifted or not

.WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO EMPHASIZE ABOUT GIFTEDNESS

Neurodiversity and Intelligences

.WHAT I PERSONALLY FIND TO BE THE MOST DIFFICULT

The slowness and limitations

.WHAT I PERSONALLY LOVE

I don’t know

.MY SURVIVAL AND REBOUND STRATEGIES

Silence and choosing my relationships

.A MISREPRESENTATION THAT I WANT TO CALL INTO QUESTION

All the useless words that do not address the real subject and the complexity of giftedness.

.WHAT I WANT TO SAY TO GIFTED PEOPLE

We’re not smart enough. We need to get to know ourselves better.

.WHAT I WANT TO SAY TO PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT CONCERNED

Don’t be afraid and also get to know yourself better.

.WHAT I WOULD RECOMMEND TO SOMEONE WHO IS WONDERING

To find a good interlocutor to know if he/she is concerned or not

.THE MISTAKE NOT TO MAKE FOR A GIFTED PERSON

There are too many

.MY PROFESSIONAL ADVICE FOR GIFTED

Knowing ourselves better and especially knowing the “neurotypical” (non-gifted) world better

.MY PERSONAL ADVICE FOR GIFTED

Give and explain your instruction manual to others. And be prepared for anything

.A BOOK TO READ ON THE SUBJECT

One that I have just discovered very educational (in French): “An overly sensitive Chameleon” by Sandrine Rouget.

.MY OPINION ABOUT THE IQ (INTELLIGENCE QUOTIENT) WAIS (WECHSLER ADULT INTELLIGENCE SCALE) TEST

Potential danger. It’s a decision-making tool. The problem is often the professional conducting the test

.IS IT A WASTE NOT TO KNOW THAT YOU ARE GIFTED?

 Of course, it is.

.WHEN I MEET ANOTHER GIFTED PERSON, DO I RECOGNIZE HIM.HER? BY WHAT?

Gaze, processing speed, language and thought structure, impatience, reflection, “tree structure thinking”, humour, social maladjustment or adaptation, magnetic resonance…

.WHAT DO GIFTED PEOPLE HAVE IN COMMON?

Discrepancy and misunderstandings

.THE LAST THING I LEARNED ON THE SUBJECT (THAT I’D LIKE TO SHARE)

Many gifted people have particular health problems: rare diseases, autoimmune diseases, thyroiditis, (emunctories: faith, kidney, spleen, skin), irritable colon, microbiota problems…

.A WISH FOR THE FUTURE

A valorisation of intelligences in organisations and at school

.THE QUESTION THAT I WAS MISSING BUT THAT I WOULD LIKE TO ANSWER?

Are you Twice Exceptional?

Yes, I am.

Autistic trait, ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), dys (praxia, lexia, graphia) … to date ☺
